Sustainable fashion (also known as eco-fashion) is a term describing efforts within the fashion industry to address its environmental impacts, improve social justice, and uphold animal welfare. Sustainability encompasses the materials, resource use and supply chain of textiles or products, as well as the consumption and disposal of clothing and waste. In 2020, it was found that voluntary self-directed reform of textile manufacturing supply chains by large companies to reduce the environmental impact was largely unsuccessful.
